This post probably contains affiliate links, to items I am in love with, and I am confident you will too! For any health advice I give on nutrition and wieghtloss, make sure you check with your doctor, as I am not a health professional. I am just a mama with lots of health and fitness knowledge and experience.

Let’s take a look at Shakeology, minus all the Beach Body stuff for breastfeeding moms working hard to stay healthy and lose the baby weight. I’m sure you’ve wondered if it is a good choice, but been afraid to ask because sometimes one tiny question leads to a spew of salesy answers.

I did my research because I am passionate about finding the top, cleanest, most nutrient dense products for breastfeeding moms. Nutrients are the key to a healthy supply and weight loss. Your body NEEDS nutrients, and it won’t let go of fat easily if it thinks nutrients are scarce. You can encourage your body to function well and let go of fat by providing a lot of vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and good bacteria. Focusing on those things rather than calories goes a long way. I did end up signing up to be a “coach,” but that was so I can get a discount. I am not really a coach though. Just a person who loves the shake. I don’t have any challenge groups, weight loss groups, or any of those things to push on you. The product is in the higher end for price point, but after reviewing and testing, I am a frugal mama, and I love a discount. Keep ready to really understand why this product is the creme de le creme for breastfeeding mamas.

I do have my favorite protein powder I suggest for mamas too. This protein powder is super clean, full of organic, plant-based vitamins and ingredients, and it tastes great. It is lacking in some of the full-on nutrients like good bacteria, digestive enzymes and super greens that are in Shakeology, but it is also at a better price point. I suggest both for breastfeeding and postpartum weight loss. Feel free to read more on the protein powder in this post!

Let’s take a look at exactly what Shakeology is:

It is a very, nutrient-dense shake formula you can blend or mix with water/milk. Shakeology is literally a packet of AMAZING everything. I looked into exactly what is in the product, and I am very confident it is not only a SAFE shake for breastfeeding mamas, but a wonderful source of nutrients for anyone wanting take their health up a notch…or 5.

The reason that I love Shakeology as an amazing tool to help breastfeeding mamas lose the baby weight is because it is a quick and easy way to infuse your body with so many nutrients. Like hundreds of dollars worth of expensive nutrients if you were to buy them on your own. For example, I used to by digestive enzyme separately, as well as prebiotics and probiotics. These are all included in Shakeology. The good bacteria is essential for gut health, which often gets attacked postpartum with all the stress, lack of sleep etc. Gut is directly linked to mental health, which is so important to moms postpartum, ESPECIALLY in the first couple weeks. I go over all the ingredients in Shakeology and their benefits in this post, along with some other wonderful supplements for breastfeeding moms.

The digestive enzymes alone are expensive to buy and take separately, and you have them in this shake, which ENSURES you ABSORB the nutrients!!

Without the proper digestion, the vitamins and minerals get pushed to waste, and they don’t even make it into your body. To simplify things, here is why Shakeology is super safe, and very beneficial for Breastfeeding mamas:

Premium Protein and Amino Acids: Whey, Pea, Chia, Quinoa, Flax, Sacha Inchi, Rice, and Oat Protein

These exotic superfoods and vitamins provide antioxidants that help fight free radical damage and help support a healthy immune system
Phytonutrients and Super-Greens: Moringa, Matcha, Chlorella, Spinach, Kale Phytonutrients help support health and vitality
Adaptogen Herbs: Ashwagandha, Astragalus, Cordyceps, Maca, Maitake, Reishi, Schisandra, Chaga Adaptogens have been traditionally used to help the body adapt and respond to the effects of stress

I totally understand if you have a slightly bad-taste in your mouth with the word Shakeology. I did for a while, until I decided to look at it from an analytical mindset, and think about what I really want to put into my body. I still LOVE my protein powder, and I use it for my green shake, where as this is a complete meal. This doesn’t need anything added to it to be a wonderful meal-replacement that is full of more nutrients than you could pack into a salad. And who has much time to make a big salad with a new baby anyways? My favorite flavors are chocolate and vanilla because I like the basics. I ordered some samples of the Cafe Latte and Barista flavors I will update here after I try them.  I totally get it if you aren’t interested in such a complete product, and maybe all you want is a protein powder. Please check out this protein powder that I LOVE!

There is also a great business opportunity with Shakeology and Beach Body, and you don’t have to use your social media to sell it!! There are other ways to sell the product, if you end up loving it. Feel free to email me if you would like to learn more on the business end of things. It really is amazing to love a product and make money using it! I’m at katie@joyfulmesses.com, and I can share more on the details to working the business without driving people nuts on social media!

I will be launching a very specialized program for postpartum mamas looking to heal, nourish and regain their strength.I really struggled healing after my first child, and even went through pelvic floor physical therapy for weeks to manage scar tissue that developed from tearing. I have experience studying nutrition, physical therapy and I taught Pilates, so I’ve put together a program I wish I would’ve followed from the beginning.

A program that first heals your body through specialized movements and nourishing foods. Foods are so essential to your body finding the nutrients it needs to put itself back together again. Your postpartum body needs special care in the first 4-6 weeks where you focus on regaining strength and properly fueling your body for breastfeeding.

This program then moves you into gaining physical fitness back. I will never forget the first time I tried to go for a run around 12 weeks postpartum after my first baby. I didn’t do any strength work, so I was literally jelly. I had lost all my extra fat and my previous muscle. So depressing. I was barely able to start gaining it back before I got pregnant and sick again with my second. I’ve learned so much on maintaining muscle postpartum through a unique diet and Pilates routines. I walk you through all of this too!

Lastly, I take you into a fitness and nutrition program to get your body back. This amps up your fitness routine into HIIT workouts, strength workouts and cardio to help you melt off those last pounds. I also walk you through proper food intake to encourage a healthy milk supply, while still burning extra fat as fuel. There is a very fine line to do this, but don’t worry, I’ve done it three times!!

I’m working on my edits to launch this program as soon as possible. I want it to be affordable, so all moms can heal there bodies and skip all the trouble I experienced. I didn’t realize, even with all my knowledge and training, how non-negotiable healing your postpartum body is before working on losing the weight.

Here is what one mama emailed me on the program:

“I absolutely love the program! Just got finished with workout 4 and I’m dying😂 I can only do these 2x thru and my second round is pretty funny to see I’m sure😉! I will work up to 3x:-) By the way, your little boy angel in the videos is too precious and makes me smile! My boys have been doing these with me as well🙌🏼!

The information and the eating plan are both fantastic. I was so happy to hear that great waynof calorie counting when nursing! I have gotten my 3 day average and now I’m going to reduce by 100 calories today! Thanks so much!!
I haven’t had a chance to recommend to postpartum moms yet but I will soon!! 😘

Here is what another mama posted in the Facebook Group:

Feeling GREAT on this program!!! It’s unbelievable how eating clean makes such a difference. Let me rephrase that…it’s amazing the difference eating nutrient dense foods makes! My skin is glowing and I’m already shedding pounds! I also tried the first workout today and did well although I had to modify a bit and omit the backwards burpee (I had cesarean just over a month ago and don’t quite feel ready for that exercise just yet but I will get there). Loving this plan! Thank you SO MUCH for tour help! Currently eating pictures lunch while writing this ”
