*this post is sponsored by CBR. As always, my opinions are all my own! I’m three babies deep now, so the delivery process isn’t as mysterious and foreign to me now, as it was with my first baby. I remember staying up late and watching A Baby Story (apparently they are bringing it back!) at 2am on TLC. I was trying to mentally prepare myself for this unknown, magical experience that was going to happen to my body. Of course my hospital bag was packed three months too early (my first baby was a week late), and I was packed for a week stay at a hotel. My new baby had five outfits and seven hats. All were way too big. I prepared for my first labor by spending hours and hours on Pinterest, reading everything I could. Making sure I knew about every car seat and high chair on…
I’m not sure about you, but I live off of coffee. My coffee cup is basically attached to my hand like an IV. Let’s face it, us Millennial moms do everything. Probably too much of everything. We cultivate organic vegetable gardens, teach our 8 month-old-babies to read and pursue emotional intelligence with a vengeance. We are over-achieving to say the least, and sometimes our bodies get a bit run down from our zealous ideals. I know that coffee isn’t always the best way to get back the pep in your step. Especially after a long night of researching various parenting methods focused on love, understanding and empathy…time outs just don’t cut it anymore do they?? Well, let me help you, by sharing the foods you can grow or eat that will give you a buzz that rivals your cup of coffee. Please note, this isn’t your standard healthy food list.…
I’ve had great success nursing all three of my baby boys, and I believe part of that is due to the steps I take before my little one arrives! Believe it or not, there are some small things you can get started on now, while your in your last month or so of pregnancy. Don’t you just love the last couple months?! I am such an impatient person, that the last few weeks seem to drag on and on! And my babies have NEVER been early! The earliest I got was my middle child, who arrived like a speed racer the the night of his due date. My other ones took me after my due date, which makes for one frustrated, pregnant mama! Anyways, let’s give you some tips to get you started on creating an abundant milk supply. This is important because you want your body to be ready…
I believe that losing the baby weight offers such a significant struggle because our minds and bodies are totally transformed outside of our control during pregnancy. If we could control what happens, things would be a lot different. Our bodies just start ballooning with all this excess water weight, we get exhausted, yet can’t sleep, our feet double in size (why?!!), and all sorts of other shockers. Pregnancy is a grueling experience, terminated with a painfully frightening labor and delivery trauma. Labor and delivery is traumatic for me. I don’t like pain. I don’t like things just happening that I can’t control. Blood, bodily fluids and yelling like an animal in a public place just don’t sit well with me. These experiences take a toll on our mind. Our bodies are a product of our mind. Did you catch that? Your body is a product of your mind. I want…
Having the ability to breastfeed your baby is a blessing. It’s not all peaches and cream for everyone. Some of us lose the weight quickly while breastfeeding, then it slowly creeps back when our little one isn’t sucking up all those calories anymore. Others of us slowly lose the weight, but don’t get to where we want to be by the time we’re done nursing. this post contains affiliate links Breastfeeding burns calories. That’s a fact. It’s easy to get used to eating a lot while breastfeeding, then have a bit of a reality check when our little one is an independent eater, and we are still gorging ourselves to “keep up the milk supply.” Habits are hard to break. Whether you’re done nursing and you still have pounds left to go, or you are noticing some extra fluff after you’ve stopped breastfeeding, here are some things you need to…
I am so excited to write this post because I’ve officially chosen my favorite protein powder, specifically for helping to lose the baby weight while breastfeeding. I wrote about the protein powders a couple years ago, and since then I have developed my own protein powder for breastfeeding mamas. I still highly recommend Ora Organics, which is the protein powder I originally wrote this post for. I’ve gotten to know the company, love the product, and think it has a lot of nutritional value. BUT, there were a few things missing from all the proteins powders I tried while breastfeeding, that really made me want to create something highly targeted to breastfeeding mamas. I created Milk Dust to solve a few problems in the market of protein powders: There wasn’t many high-quality, plant-based protein powders that boost lactation: There are very few plant-based protein powders on the market with lactation…
Breastfeeding has a magical way of injecting some sort of sugar monster into our bodies. It is a beast that doesn’t sleep unless it’s had some sort of sweet treat every couple of hours. Well, at least that’s the beast inside of me. I have heard many other new mothers mention their sweet-tooth intensity while breastfeeding. It’s a common side effect we all deal with or give in too. But do we know exactly why this is happening? In order to combat the sweet desires that consume our minds and control our taste buds, we must understand why these type of food cravings are happening. Now, if you Google this problem, most articles are going to tell you a number of vague, over-generalized answers like its just because you’re a nursing mom and tired from lack of sleep. It is true that being tired causes you to crave all sorts…
So here’s the reality of losing the baby weight. Once you do, you also lose your booty! Unless your keeping up with your workouts, which we all know is super difficult with kids, you most likely are starting to see a pancake butt, rather than what you used to have. You know, its just not quite as lifted. But, we can work to fix it! Here are the top 5 exercises I’ve found to really help build your booty back up like it was before those little rascals came along. I have been using this app to stay fit for a while now, and I highly recommend it because there are lots of lower-body and booty workouts that will really help you. You just listen to the jams and trainer, and go for it. I go into more details on my two favorite postpartum workout apps in this post. Let’s…
I can tell you that breastfeeding is a lot of work. I’m breastfeeding my third baby now, and its another job in itself. Finding the right foods to eat is so difficult when you are exhausted and craving all the cake. I seriously can eat and eat chocolate candy when I am breastfeeding. When I am pregnant, all I want are nachos. Breastfeeding is pure sugar. Interesting how that happens. Related: The 5 Best Foods To Lose The Baby Weight and Pump Up Your Milk Supply Here, I’m going over the ultimate foods for your breastfeeding diet. These foods are full of nutrients for you and your baby. You want to pack them in to ensure you both have a lot of vitamins. Trailmix: Now, this doesn’t mean just any candy-filled trail mix. The one I like is called, Raw Superfoods Trailmix. Its full of super healthy nuts, which are…
I’ve been helping new mommies choose a breastfeeding protein powder for years now. As a mom of three, I’ve found that protein powder is not only safe while breastfeeding but also super helpful for both lactation and weight loss. Protein shakes are such a great way to take in a lot of nutrients, which if you are breastfeeding, you need! Smoothies also fill us up with good calories, which is a great tool for losing the baby weight, but also helping with milk supply. Let me go over some reasons protein powders are super helpful for breastfeeding moms, while also discussing the importance of protein during lactation. Protein powder is safe for breastfeeding for several reasons: Protein powders are derived from organic and clean ingredients, not chemicals. Protein powders can be sweetened with natural sweeteners like Stevia, Monk Fruit, Vanilla, Cane Juice, or honey as ways to make it taste…
