This post is inspired actually by a movie I started watching with my boys the other day. I found it on Netflix, and long story short, there was an over-weight boy, who was the friend of the main character, and he was using an app to count his steps and earn swag. Ding, ding, omg I wanted that app! I started fantasizing about all the miles I run, now that I started running again after three babies (see how I did it!). Seriously, there are apps that will pay you on your journey to losing the baby weight or just getting in shape.

I went on a hunt around the internet world to find that there really are some apps that will reward you for just being healthy. Can you believe there is a way to get paid to keep your new year’s resolution? Yep, it’s true and here’s a list of the best ones:

Healthy Wage:

This app is on the top of the list because it pays the most, and it allows you to create challenges with yourself, co-workers or family members. There’s an amazing testimonial that I am going to leave here with you, so you can see how it works. Basically, you set your personal goals and sync up with fitness and health tracker like My Fitness Pal. Read the testimonial below, and checkout the Prize Calculator to see what you could win!

My name is Kristin W., and as of this morning, I have officially won my HealthyWage bet, lost 114.5 pounds and won $4000!

I started with just walking and tracking my food using MyFitnessPal. I started around 1200-1500 calories a day, and have gradually increased my calories so that hopefully maintaining my weight will be a little easier and less a shock of adding a bunch of calories back in. I’m training now for a half marathon in the fall, and planning on a full next year!

What an inspiring story! I am looking into starting a challenge for my readers, stay tuned for that. If you want to grab my free ebook on losing the baby weight, I will be sending out my email list special invitations for challenges this year! Want to get in on the “dieting for dollars” craze and up your potential for weight loss success? Bet on yourself and start your HealthyWager today. Then lose the weight and get paid, simple as that!

Walgreens Balance Rewards:

This is a point-based system, where you earn Walgreen’s points to redeem at the store. There are lots of ways to earn points, not just through activity, but also with blood pressure check ins, and 250 points for just linking your fitness device like a Fitbit. Get 20 points per mile when you walk, run or cycle. Plus, get 20 points per weigh-in, blood pressure test, blood glucose test, and earn points while you quit smoking/tobacco with Balance Rewards for healthy choices. There’s a lot I can buy at Walgreens, so this one is a no-brainer for me. If Walgreens isn’t your store, check out the next app, where you get straight cash to your Paypal.

Achievement:

This is a point-based system, where you get points that can convert into goodies. You don’t just have to workout to get points. You can complete health surveys to get over 200 points per survey. You can really add up the points fast, and they pay $10 for every 10,000 points. Here’s what they say:

  • We pay you $10 for every 10,000 points you earn.

  • Once you reach 10,000 points, you’ll be eligible to redeem your reward. You can usually expect to get paid within 1 week, often sooner.

  • You can choose to be paid via Paypal or Giftrocket.

I love the idea of $10 here and there getting put into my Paypal account just because I took some surveys and did my workouts. Totally exciting and motivating!

Runister:

This app pays you to run directly through Paypal, so I like that. No converting from points to dollars to swag. Just straight and simple money. You get paid .08 per mile. Now for me, I run about 4 or 5 miles a few days a week. So, I can earn 24-40 cents a run. You must run outdoors and answer a few survey questions on your run in order to redeem. Not a huge payout, but it is something rather than nothing. I’d rather have 40 cents verses 0. And, if you add this to the other apps I’ve listed, its not so bad!

There are two other popular apps that I will mention, but didn’t want to go into because they don’t actually pay you. You have to bet and put in money. These are Pact (it says their site is down, so not sure how long that will be??) and Dietbet. I am personally more interested in getting paid for being healthy and active, BUT if you have a great group of friends or coworkers you can get together to do a pact or bet, by all means check out these apps!
