Protein shakes are such a great way to really buckle down and get lean for summer just around the corner. I love a good protein shake, and I talk a lot about how they are my secret weapon to losing the baby weight. It isn’t just about the protein, but about the nutrients it helps me consume with a busy schedule. I have my three favorite protein shakes that are super easy to make, with the BEST protein powder ever. I am telling you this is the best tasting, most nutritious and clean protein powder I’ve tried, and I’ve tried them all! Ideal Raw, Shakeology, Vega, Ideal Fit…and lots of other brands I’ve found on sale at grocery stores.

Let’s get into the yummy protein shakes that are clean, lean and so great for losing that last bit of weight before summer. If you aren’t sure how to use protein to lose weight, check out this post. I talk more about how your body uses protein, carbs and fats to help you understand why protein is so helpful.

I also have a post on exactly how I use protein shakes for weight loss, specifically losing the baby weight, which you can save for later too!

Lean + Green Protein Weight Loss Shake:

This is a very creamy, green shake because of a little trick. I freeze my almond milk, and I use those for ice cubes. This keeps it from getting super icy.

You can see I put in my Ninja single cup (you NEED this blender, so amazing!), about 4 almond-milk ice cubes. Depending on your ice cube size, it is about halfway up. Two hand-fulls of spinach, two scoops of the Ora Organics Vanilla protein powder, then fill with about 1/4 to 1/2 cup of Almond milk. Depending on your blender, you may need more or less. If I want it super thick, I use less. I made this recipe a couple years ago now, before I launched my Milk Dust, a protein powder specifically made to help with weight loss, milk supply and nourishment after baby! If you want to try it, take 10% off your first order with code: JOYFUL

Here’s the list of ingredients for you:

4-6 Almond Milk Ice Cubes
2 Scoops Ora Organics
2 Hand-fulls of spinach
1/4 – 1/2 cup Almond Milk

Blend and pour into your glass of choice to drink and enjoy right away!!

This is my favorite protein shake of all time because you can’t taste the spinach at all. What is even better is

Milk Dust comes with super greens for energy as well! Chlorella, Spirulina, spinach and Vitamin B12!!

Okay, let’s get into my favorite, protein frappucino. So yummy, clean and lean. Here’s my quick video on why I love it 🙂

Skinny Protein Frappucino:

This is a great way to get your caffeine boost and protein in at the same time. The wonderful part of Ora Organics is that you are also getting a lot of nutrients. Clean nutrients with a full amino acid profile. No chemicals, no artificial sweeteners and made in California. See this post for more details on the ingredients and nutrients. If you are struggling with milk supply, or want help with sugar cravings, then I highly suggest my Milk Dust as another option.

The trick to making this so good is to freeze your coffee and almond milk (or milk of choice). This helps eliminate that icy texture.

Here’s the Ingredients:

2-3 Almond Milk Ice Cubes
3-4 Coffee Ice Cubes
2 Scoops Ora Organics
1/3 cup Almond Milk

Blend together, pour in your favorite to-go cup, and enjoy!

Skinny Chocolate Protein Milk Shake:

This is my favorite dessert protein shake. I sometimes make it thicker, with less almond milk for a pudding texture. So yummy!! The key to this is frozen bananas. They really cream up well, in addition to adding cocoa powder. The extra powder on top of the protein powder helps keep it thick.

Ingredients:

1 Scoop Milk Dust or 2 Scoops Ora Organics Vanilla
2 TBSP of Cocoa Powder
1 Frozen banana
1/4 cup Almond Milk

Blend all these together and you have a skinny, protein chocolate milk shake that is so yummy! The cocoa powder gives a stronger chocolate taste, which helps cancel out the banana taste. If you don’t like a hint of banana, substitute half of the banana for 3 almond milk ice cubes.

In my years of helping mamas lose weight while breastfeeding, there was a protein powder missing that was specifically designed for breastfeeding mamas to combat these sugar cravings and fully nourish mamas. I am a firm believer in nutrition for milk supply, so I created Milk Dust. Milk Dust is literally your best friend for lactation and weight loss. It has a milk-boosting herb blend, plenty of protein, sugar-craving-busting herbs like Tumeric, Cinnamon Bark Root and minerals like Chromium which have all been used to balance blood sugar. In addition to all these fabulous items. I hand-picked specific vitamins like Folate (L-Methylfolate) because folate is still important during lactation! Almost just as important as in pregnancy. I also hand-picked vitamin B12 for energy, and super foods like Chlorella, Spirulina, Spinach, Blueberries and more. The protein powder is free of soy, gluten, dairy and corn. It is NON-GMO, Vegan and plant-based!! I highly recommend you check it out if you are craving sugar. It is only sweetened with Stevia, Monk Fruit and Organic Cane Juice, which means there is very little sugar, but it is very sweet, so you still get to drink something like a milkshake!

There is no other clean, super nutrient-dense protein powders that are specifically made for postpartum healing, nourishment, lactation and weight loss. There are thousands of mamas waiting for this to launch, and I am so excited to finally have a product that helps mamas nourish themselves while also losing weight.

Sharing is caring!

  1. I really am interested in the plant based protein powder especially cuz I have such bad digestive issues. So I received the powder yesterday and tried the cocoa banana recipe. It was tasty that is for sure. This morning I tried the skinny Frap….OMG!!! I am going to have to practice restraint with that one! My only concern is that it would not blend very well in my mini ninja blender, even if i pulsed it. I ended up adding an additional 1/2 cup. Any suggestions to blend it better or is just the extra milk the solution?

I know I could drink like 5 frapps a day lol!! Every blender is so different, it is sometimes hard to measure what will work in each one! You could do a few less ice cubes, and a cold-brew coffee instead to keep the coffee flavor, and not have it too milky. I use the Starbucks cold brew instead of milk if I haven’t frozen any coffee, and it tastes so good because the cold brew is very smooth, not bitter or strong at all!! Let me know how it goes digestion wise! The digestive enzymes help a ton!

  2. I am almost done with my breastfeeding journey on milkdust and would like to know what protein you recommend for after the breastfeeding journey.

Milkdust has helped me breastfeed for 2 years and my journey is coming to an end.
