As a mom of three busy, wild rascals, I rarely have an opportunity to workout or just think. I find myself driving the kids around aimlessly when I just want to let my brain relax and they are quiet in the car. Giving your brain freedom to wander is essential for rest and creativity. Running is my favorite way to de-stress and workout at the same time. I believe, and many studies agree, that running is very productive for your brain. For the last 4.5 years, I haven’t been running. I’ve been pregnant and having babies. Nursing and recovering. Now that my baby is 14 months, and the oldest is almost 5, I’ve started running again, and it feels so good. You really can start running again after years of not running. It’s not fun, but so worth it once you get going. After just a few weeks of running…

The health and fitness industry has a lot of trends that change and evolve as we learn more about the human body. The main idea of eating whole foods, limiting sugar and fat, eating many small meals for a fast metabolism and drinking lots of water has held it’s place as the golden rule. Well, here are some methods to transform your health and lose weight, that are not the golden rule. In fact, they go against the grain and push the limits on what we know. Let’s start with the first and the obvious, a Ketogenic diet. This is a full on full-fat diet. As in, bacon, beef, chicken, butter…think of something fatty and that’s probably going to be a staple in your diet. Why is this against the grain? Fat is high in calories, which is not normally conducive to losing weight. But, if you stick to the…

I’ve gained and lost a lot of weight in the past 5 years because I’ve had three babies. I’ve gained an average of 25 pounds per pregnancy, then lost it all, only to gain it all back by getting pregnant again. I talk a lot about losing the baby weight because it’s something I’ve developed a skill in. Or, I’ve just figured out now. I like to give as much advice on losing the weight, and tips on eating and working out as possible. That being said, there are some shortcuts out there that can really help you accomplish your fitness goals, and you should totally take them. Taking shortcuts to lose weight is a good idea in my opinion because it’s such a hard goal to achieve, and I believe if you can take a few shortcuts, you will stay motivated on your journey. You can start with my…

I go over a lot of tips and tricks to lose the baby weight here on this blog because I’ve been able to gain and lose the baby weight three times. There was a time however, when I gained weight and had trouble feeling healthy. It didn’t matter how healthy I ate, I had a lot of bloating, gas, cravings and more. I tried to self-diagnose by reading lots of nutrition books and changing my diet around endlessly. I talk more about my struggle with IBS in this post.  Long story short, I went to a naturopath who literally changed my world, and looked deeper into my gut issues. These little pills were and are a big part of my healing. What she did for me was heal my gut, leading me to believe that the gut is a HUGE player in the weight loss and health game we all…

It’s holiday card time! I am so weird with holiday cards. I am either way too ambitious and want to make them totally gorgeous, or I don’t do them at all. Why can’t I just be normal?? Anyways, I have some great ways to make your beautiful, family holiday cards totally stand out and leave an impression with your family and friends. Here’s how you can go big with your cards this year First, make them into ornaments, rather than your average card. I think this is genius because everyone will automatically want to put them on the tree. I found that Minted is a great place to do this. They have so many beautiful options on making your photos into gorgeous ornament holiday cards. They’ve of course got a great deal going on for the holidays with a coupon I saw on their site, be sure to look at…

I can eat pumpkin pie all year really. I love it. As a little girl, I couldn’t stand the taste of it. Isn’t it funny how things can so drastically change as you get older? This pumpkin pie french toast recipe is really an excuse to eat pumpkin pie for breakfast…but almost better! The trick is to start with cinnamon bread. I grabbed the soft bread with the cinnamon swirls that just happen to be on sale. Get a nice, soft brand that will soak up our pumpkin/egg mixture. It really makes a difference. Here’s the video on making these. The recipe and instructions are below. Let me know how delicious they are! INGREDIENTS: 1/4 cup pumpkin puree 3 eggs 1/4 cup milk of choice 1 TBS pumpkin pie spice 1tsp salt 6-8 slices cinnamon swirl bread INSTRUCTIONS:  Whisk together pumpkin, eggs, milk and pumpkin pie spice Dip your bread…

For me, I like to have some peace and quiet, where I can think and process my day. I love to chat, have fun and enjoy my family and friends, but I also need that quiet space to desensitize myself. When you are a guest at someone else’s house, it’s super difficult to do that because you may not even have your own guest room. Here are some genius ways to escape the crazy and rejuvenate yourself. 1. Take A “Nap”: You can always tell your guests or others that you need a nap. This is where I actually escape with a magazine, like PEOPLE® magazine (my favorite!!), and veg out a minute. No one will bother you if they think you are…
