A diet high in protein for post-pregnancy weight loss is super effective for breastfeeding moms. If you are breastfeeding, your body requires extra nutrients and protein to help sustain milk production. This is a large topic on my blog because mamas like you are coming back to me time and again for new smoothie recipes, information on choosing protein powders, and which ones are the best for breastfeeding, workouts and more. There are thousands of readers a day coming here for this information, and the one thing I haven’t gone into detail about is why a high-protein diet is perfect for post-pregnancy weight loss. Now, I don’t focus on weight loss as fast as possible. For me, I was able to lose it all by 6 weeks postpartum, but that is because my body was used to shedding the weight. I felt great, and had an over abundance of milk…

I’ve lost the baby weight after both babies 2 and 3 with all my pregnancies being very close together. Losing the weight, only to start gaining it again can be a little depressing. Having a baby, not losing the baby weight, then getting pregnant again is even less fun!  My boys are 2 years and less apart, which doesn’t leave a whole lot of time to bounce back before getting pregnant again. I’ve finally started running consistently again after taking years off. I’ve also just started repairing my core and pelvic muscles. Since writing this post, I’ve become a Pre/Post Natal Fitness Specialist and created The Postpartum Cure. This is a holistic program that focuses on a diet for breastfeeding mamas to keep their milk supply while losing weight, an ab rehab program, and workouts to repair and rebuild your body after a baby. There are a lot of factors…

Protein is so important for your milk supply and losing the baby weight. It literally will keep your muscle, feed your organs and tissues, give your body power to produce nutrient-dense milks (read this for information on fat content in milk), and ultimately keep your body full. Here are some amazing, protein-rich and low-carb foods that will keep your supply up, while you are losing the baby weight. If you are struggling with milk supply, and desperately want to lose the baby weight, check out these amazing milk-boosters to help you! Salmon: Isn’t this on every amazing food list? I feel like it is, but it is especially wonderful for breastfeeding mamas! Here’s why, it is full of DHA, which is so very important for baby’s brain. The fats that we eat actually do enter the breast milk, so it is important we eat foods with the right fats and…

Carbs are a huge part of my life postpartum, even while losing the baby weight. With the keto-craze happening right now, it seems to me that everyone is scared of carbs. Carbs are amazing, and you can totally eat carbs and still lose weight. I am a carb-eater, and with breastfeeding and running, I need them to function. If I switch to low carb, I want to die and scream for days. If this is you, DON’T WORRY! You can eat carbs. Your body might like to run off of carbs, and feel terrible in ketosis, so don’t force it. Let’s go over how to eat carbs and still lose the baby weight. Carbs actually help with weight loss, especially after baby. Carbohydrates are an essential macro nutrient our bodies need, even when losing weight. Eliminating carbohydrates does work for some people, but not everyone needs to eliminate carbohydrates to…

Breastfeeding was a huge priority for me with my first baby, and I was fortunate enough to be able to breastfeed successfully, with a healthy supply, all my babies. I am still breastfeeding my 16-month-old, more because it’s easier than necessity. I even started working on my milk supply in my last few weeks of pregnancy. There were just a few items I really suggest to help you with your milk supply and breastfeeding, that you should have ready to go. If you are thinking about having a natural birth, but unsure, check out this class! If I had this class, I think I would’ve been much more prepared for my unexpected natural births! I was not ready when the epidural didn’t work and my second and third babies came so fast. My friend and labor nurse put it together, and she is amazing. Moving into the 6 most important…

I finally started consistently running again, after being pregnant or nursing for over 5 years. I had three babies in just over three years, and I am just finishing nursing my third baby now. It is really hard to get into a fitness routine once you have kids. I struggled the most after my first baby, and I really didn’t get back into a fitness routine much. With my second I was a little better, and now I am finally back to running again. I can actually say I’m a runner, and it makes me so happy! I run with my stroller, with two of my kids most the time (the hubby takes one), but sometimes I pile all three in, and rarely I go with one or by myself! If you follow me on Instagram, you will see all my running adventure stories. Sometimes it’s the baby and the…

Protein is essential for losing the baby weight while breastfeeding, yet sometimes it’s hard to make sure you are eating enough because of all the carb cravings. I would much rather have some chocolate chip, milk-boosting cookies, rather than chicken. That’s just the way my taste-buds are. But, there are some great ways you can get more protein in, which is essential for helping you to lose weight and keep your milk supply up. I talk a lot about protein on this blog because it is so important to maintain your muscles, keep you full, fuel your brain and ultimately aid in your weight loss and fitness efforts. So, let’s talk about how you can get more protein in once baby arrives.  The goal is to lose the weight and keep your milk supply up. I have lots more tips on that in this post, which you will want to…

Breastfeeding and postpartum weight loss are a hot topic for new mamas because balancing milk supply and weight loss can be super tricky. I think it’s safe to say that most mamas would choose a higher milk supply for their babies, rather than losing weight fast, but you can really do both. I’ve gained and lost over 25lbs with each pregnancy, and never had an issue with milk supply because of my nutrition. Nutrients are the key to losing the baby weight while keeping a healthy milk supply. Your body needs the building blocks to function properly. This includes balancing hormones correctly, creating enough breast milk and ultimately using the stored fat as fuel to produce breast milk. This is why we store fat when pregnant. So there is plenty of extra nutrients and fuel to use to create breast milk. We are supposed to lose weight while breastfeeding. When…

I’ve been pregnant or nursing for over 5 years now. Every time I am pregnant, I do my best to include an organic, prenatal and postnatal protein powder that benefits both me and my baby. Its so important to get enough protein, yet it is often difficult because protein tastes like garbage. I don’t particularly like meat in general, and when I’m pregnant it is even worse. The only protein I like is cheese, and that’s not the best for achieving a belly-only pregnancy.  This is where protein powder comes in!! I talk about this powder for breastfeeding mamas too in another post, because its really great for milk supply as well! Which means that you can keep using it when baby arrives, and it will help with your milk! I have some great, milk boosting smoothie bowl recipes that are so yummy (and pretty!), so save those for later,…

I write a lot about losing the baby weight and getting fit on this blog because I’ve gained and lost over 25 lbs three times now. I know how hard it can be to find time to workout, eat healthy when you have massive sugar cravings, or just survive when you have toddlers and babies pulling on you every second. I was able to lose the baby weight by 6 weeks postpartum because it is a habit now. I even wrote a free little book with all my secrets that I would love to give you! I have had a very difficult time making the most of any workout I can manage. Whether it was at the gym, when we had a membership, or now while I’m running with my jogging stroller (follow me on Insta to see my stories of running with kids!). I was just going through the…
