Thank you Village Harvest for sponsoring this post. Every day Village Harvest is planting seeds of change and growing possibilities, one bag of goodness at a time. Making healthy meals always seems way more time-intensive than it needs to be. I get big ideas, or the sensation that it is faster to pop some chicken nuggets in the microwave and throw some carrots and fruit on a plate. BUT, I have figured out some super quick tips to whip up healthy meals in seriously a matter of minutes. Feel free to shop my favorite rice in the photo above! I use it for my quick and health meals, and it is AMAZING! First Tip: Rotisserie Chicken Our local grocery store has delicious rotisserie chicken. Like super good, and very affordable. It is literally just a dollar or so more to buy it fresh and already made. We get two at…

Protein shakes are such a wonderful way to give your children the protein, vitamins, and nutrients they need! Especially if you have picky eaters like I do. Many toddlers and kids go through stages where they don’t like a majority of foods. It reminds me of being pregnant. It comes and goes, yet as a parent, you worry about them getting enough nutrients to their brains and bodies. If it were up to my kids, they would live off of chocolate milk, toast, and donuts. If I cook their eggs just a little bit too long, they won’t touch them. If there’s a small brown spec on the banana, no way. I’ve found protein shakes to be a great help in easing my frustration with meal times, as well as giving me peace of mind about how much nutrition they are getting. Choosing the right protein powder is very important.…

I turned  a spare/storage bedroom into a home gym and play space a couple weeks ago. There is a built-in desk corner for working. It really is a happy place that is just mine. There is still some extra furniture and things from that we are storing and need to get rid of, but that’s what spring is about right? The gym flooring was super affordable from Amazon, I painted quick and cleared it out in just a couple days. I want the space super open. This way we can roll around, jump around and ultimately get lots of activity in. The super hot summer is coming here, so playing inside will be more of a norm for just a few months. The mirrors were light-weight mirrors I grabbed at Walmart for about $5 a piece. Command strips are being used to hold the mirrors up. I lined the corners,…

Our dryer recently decided to have electric problems, which forced me to really think about how I was organizing and managing my laundry situation. It wasn’t great. So, I decided to focus on ways I could simplify all the laundry for three, wild and dirty little boys, plus myself and husband. I have to admit, my own laundry is a lot because I run almost every day, which means I’ve got some smelly clothes to deal with every day. I came up with these 5 steps, which really help me keep things simple, and less intimidating. The laundry pile used to intimidate me, and I would shove the clothes back in the washer, rather than put them away. Here’s what I…

This protein shake is so yummy, and full of super powers for milk supply!! I love this as a postpartum drink to give my body all the nutrients it needs to produce lots of milk, as well as help me lose the baby weight fast. (I lost it all by 6 weeks postpartum!). The run down of the shake is pretty simple, and I’ve laid out all the ingredients for you, to make sure you can whip it up quickly. Let’s go over the ingredients first: 13-15 cashews 1 scoop of protein powder (read all about my favorite protein powder, and the one I HIGHLY recommend) Half Avacado 1 cup Almond Milk (or milk of choice) 2 Cups Spinach 1 TBS Flaxseed 4 Packets Stevia (or sweetener of choice) 1-2 Mint Leaves (depending on how minty you want it) Handful or so of ice cubes I use a Ninja big…

I was so nervous for my first, 6-week postpartum check up, and totally shocked by my experiences that followed my check up. I remember getting ready to go in the room, new baby asleep in the car seat and waiting patiently for my doctor to come in. The experience itself was simple, quick and at-first, such a relief. I was given the “okay” and told everything was healed as it supposed too. I had a small tear during labor, and this was with my first baby, but was told it all healed up nicely. I walked out feeling excited and nervous all at the same time. What I wasn’t told was so much more. I walked out of there feeling happy that I survived my first birth and recovered by 6-weeks like you are “supposed” too. But, there was so much my doctor didn’t tell me, and some utterly painful…

Protein powder really helped me keep my milk supply up while losing the baby weight with all three of my babies. I’ve lost over 25 pounds of baby weight for each pregnancy, and bounced back to my pre-baby weight around six weeks. I love a great protein powder and health smoothies. I wrote a post on the best protein powders for breastfeeding moms. I wanted to go over a few options, which with all that research led me to the protein powder I know talk a lot about and love as a tool to increase milk supply and help you lose the baby weight. Can protein powder really increase milk supply? Absolutely. Protein powder can increase milk supply by offering nutritional support for new mommies, as well as lactation boosting properties. Most protein powders aren’t just protein, but full of essential vitamins, minerals, antioxidants and more that support a healthy…
